Πτώση που ξεπερνάει το 10% σε σχέση με τις αρχές του 2018 καταγράφουν στη Χαλκιδική οι προκρατήσεις τουριστών από τη Γερμανία και τη Βρετανία, προκαλώντας έντονη ανησυχία στους ξενοδόχους. Πρόκειται για σημαντικό πλήγμα, μια και αναφέρεται σε δύο σημαντικές τουριστικές αγορές για τη Χαλκιδική, καθώς αντιστοιχούν στο 30% των τουριστών που επισκέπτεται την περιοχή (20% Βρετανοί, 10% Γερμανοί). Η μείωση των προκρατήσεων από Γερμανούς και Βρετανούς δεν αφορά μόνο τη Χαλκιδική, αλλά το σύνολο των θερινών προορισμών της χώρας, όπου καταγράφεται πτώση της τάξης του 5%-7%. Άλλωστε, όπως προκύπτει από τα στοιχεία του δεύτερου μεγαλύτερου διαδικτυακού τουριστικού γραφείου της Γερμανίας, του HolidayCheck, η πτώση των μέχρι στιγμής κρατήσεων για την Ελλάδα ανέρχεται στο 5%, την ώρα που αυξάνονται κατά 43% οι Γερμανοί που κλείνουν πακέτα για την Τουρκία. Σύμφωνα με τον πρόεδρο της Πανελλήνιας Ομοσπονδίας Ξενοδόχων, της Ένωσης Ξενοδοχείων Χαλκιδικής και του Τουριστικού Οργανισμού Χαλκιδικής, Γρηγόρη Τάσιο, που μίλησε στο voria.gr, η υποχώρηση των Βρετανών οφείλεται στην αβεβαιότητα του Brexit και των Γερμανών στην προτίμησσή τους φέτος προς την Τουρκία, η οποία προετοιμάζεται για χρονιά-ρεκόρ στον τουρισμό. Ο κ. Τάσιος σημειώνει ότι «η ισοτιμία της τουρκικής λίρας και η συναλλαγματική διαφορά στα συμβόλαια σε ευρώ καθιστούν πολύ πιο ανταγωνιστικό τιμολογιακά το τουρκικό τουριστικό προϊόν σε σχέση με το ελληνικό. Υπάρχουν all inclusive πακέτα σε ξενοδοχεία της Τουρκίας που είναι φθηνότερα ακόμη και κατά 30% από τα αντίστοιχα στην Ελλάδα». Ο ίδιος επαναλαμβάνει το αίτημά του προς την κυβέρνηση να επανεξετάσει τη φορολογική πολιτική της στον τουριστικό κλάδο, και ζητεί μείωση των ασφαλιστικών εισφορών, του ΕΝΦΙΑ, καθώς και αλλαγές στους συντελεστές του ΦΠΑ, που αποτελούν διαρκή αιτήματα των ξενοδόχων τα τελευταία χρόνια. Η εικόνα σχετικά με τη γερμανική αγορά αναμένεται να γίνει πιο ξεκάθαρη στη μεγάλη τουριστική έκθεση ITB που πραγματοποιείται στο Βερολίνο από τις 8 έως τις 12 Μαρτίου.
